Artist Spotlight: Kelley MacDonald

Sandi found Kelley MacDonald at Daily Painter Originals (tons of wonderful artist over there!).  Her work is just beautiful.

I was taken in by this lobster (I do have a love for almost all things ocean related!).

Then I found the donuts! Oh happy day!

And, of course, I'm a sucker for paintings with dogs.  This is part of a little series from a dog show she went to.

On her blog she posts new paintings anywhere from 3 - 6 times a week.  Amazing!

She lives in Rhode Island and has several sea inspired paintings.

I really love the series she's created with rock pebbles picked up along the shore.  What a wonderful idea for a still life!

So go check out her blog.  She gives a little insight into each painting she posts.  And it's a lovely place to get lost for a while!

Artist Spotlight: Mincing Mockingbird

The Mincing Mockingbird is one of my absolute favorite artists.  His paintings, done in acrylic, typically have a lot of negative space and a lot of emotion.

His titles are my favorite.  They actual enhance the painting - giving a little insight to the subject.

He has a wonderful blog, which he shares with his equally talented wife.

Get Inspired: Messing About in Boats

"It's the ONLY thing," said the Water Rat solemnly, as he leant forward for his stroke. "Believe me, my young friend, there is NOTHING--absolutely nothing--half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Simply messing," he went on dreamily: "messing...about...in...boats; messing..."

"...about in boats--or WITH boats," the Rat went on composedly, picking himself up with a pleasant laugh. "In or out of 'em, it doesn't matter. Nothing seems really to matter, that's the charm of it. "

"Whether you get away or whether you don't...

...whether you arrive at your destination or whether you reach somewhere else, or whether you never get anywhere at all, you're always busy, and you never do anything in particular...

and when you've done it there's always something else to do, and you can do it if you like, but you'd much better not." - The Wind in the Willows

Feature Friday

This is a new regular feature.  I plan to showcase a new painting recently completed by one of our artists!

So let's start things off with Bonnie Haines and her bright and cheerful painting of a frog on lily pads!
