Oil painter Sarah Keathley began her pursuit of art after winning a school art competition in her hometown of Russellville, Arkansas.
"Capturing the myriad ways light illuminates objects has always fascinated me," she says. "I have been greatly influenced by the impressionists and their intense use of color and light."
Sarah has studied under Getrude Vancleve, Norris Mailer, Charles Peer, Bill Garrison, Bruce Peil and Doug Gorrell.
Sarah was named the 2009 River Valley Artist of the Year and currently teaches 18 students thrice weekly at the Lemley House Stuido in the Historic Downtown District of Russellville.
"I love the painterly qualities of oil paint, and I really like to push color, light and texture," she adds.
