Artist Spotlight: Bobbie Burgers

Bobbie Burgers was brought to my attention by Sandi.  Her bright, over-sized florals are amazing to behold!

It's amazing to see the scale and vibrancy of her work against the clean, white background of her Okanagan Weekend Home!

Argenta Art Walk

Last Friday one of our own, Jeannie Stone, showcased at the Argenta Art Walk in North Little Rock.  And Rita took some pics for us (thanks, Rita!)  The show is held on the 3rd Friday of each month.

This month Jeannie not only displayed some of her amazing work, but also did a demonstration!

And, because it can be a little stressful working in front of an audience, she finished the piece back at the studio Tuesday afternoon.  Amazing!

Prix de West

Every year in Oklahoma City, there's a huge western art show called Prix de West.  I was fortunate enough to be able to attend the opening weekend.  Sarah had said it would be huge, with lots of very traditional paintings. She wasn't kidding!  I've never been to such a huge art show in my life (granted, I haven't been to very many art shows, but still....).

The artwork was pretty amazing.  Many very traditional pieces like this beauty by Bill Anton...

or these lovely oils by Tony Eubanks...

and other...unexpected (but fascinating) pieces - like these from Christopher Blossom....

Some wonderful water-colorists were also represented.  I adore these works by Dean Mitchell....

I'm still marveling at the technique in George Hallmark's paintings...

and the movement in Terri Kelly Moyers' "El Tejido de la Familia"...

the strength and soul in John Moyers' work....

I was amazed by the play on light and scale in Josh Elliot's paintings...

And I loved the clouds in G. Russell Case's "Painted Cliffs"...

It was an amazing experience, and I learned a little something about art shows - it's overwhelming if you try to see everything at once.  Next time I'll try to take a break between sets (yeah, right!  I'll be way too excited to see everything!).
